Precision viticulture

Better understand your vineyard to improve quality and profitability

THE CHALLENGES

Adapting viticultural practices
to climate change

The pursuit of optimal quality for the harvest must necessarily reconcile the preservation of the sanitary and water status of the vine, as well as the progress of grape maturity. Thus, the homogeneity of the vineyard plots is an essential factor to ensure harvests that meet the targeted quality objectives and make the most of the grapes

Achieving optimal water status, rebalancing the vigor of vines in a plot, vatting homogeneous quality batches of grapes, monitoring the growth of young vines: these are the challenges that winemakers face each year.

Thanks to satellite images orbiting around the Earth at approximately 700km altitude, TerraNIS has developed the Oenoview® solution in partnership with the ICV Group. Winemakers and cooperative cellars now have a comprehensive, very high-resolution view of their vineyards.

OUR SOLUTION

Oenoview®, satellites at the
service of precision viticulture

Combining technological innovation and viticultural expertise, Oenoview® is currently the most precise and fast service to master the qualitative potential of your vineyard. The Oenoview® service is co-developed and marketed with our partner, the ICV Group, specialized in oenological consulting. Satellite imagery allows you to obtain a precise, reliable, operational, and large-scale mapping of your vineyard at any time.

With Oenoview®, you can benefit from 4 complementary services to optimize your viticultural practices: harvest preparation, fertilization management, evaluation of the water status of plots, and control of the growth of young vine plants. All these tools allow you to easily access data from a computer or your smartphone, even in offline mode!

How does
Oenoview® work?

USE CASE

Production of Oenoview® maps to adapt the fertilization plan to the scale of the entire Moët & Chandon vineyard

Maison Moët & Chandon, founded in 1743, is the largest estate in the wine region with nearly 1,200 hectares of vines. Moët & Chandon has been using the Oenoview® service since 2019 to optimize the fertilization and harvest of its vines. TerraNIS produces Oenoview® maps from satellite imagery on all plots. Thanks to this solution, Maison Moët & Chandon has reduced its use of inputs to only use what is necessary for the proper development of its vines and is thus committing to a sustainable viticulture approach.

USE CASE

Homogenizing your plots with Oenoview: a successful bet for the Grands Chais properties in France Aquitaine

In 2016, the Grand Chais de France properties in Aquitaine decided to rely on Oenoview expertise to improve the yields and quality of the wines, which were declining due to a succession of hot and dry vintages. A snapshot of the 300 ha of the different properties was taken by the SPOT 7 satellite in August 2016. The Oenoview maps and data (measurement of vigor and heterogeneity) obtained will then be used to control the spreading of fertilizer according to the areas of force highlighted by the maps.

USE CASE

Thiols seen from the sky: segmentation of the Sauvignon plot of the Vendéole vineyards

In 2019, the Vendéole vineyards used the Oenoview® service to improve the segmentation of the Sauvignon plot and isolate a group of plots with high thiol potential. Marc Duffo, technical manager, testifies: “The results obtained on the wines are very satisfactory, with marked differences in the thiolated expression between the 2 batches selected by Oenoview®. It is a decision-making tool complementary to the work of vineyard technicians, effective in comparison with more traditional selection methods, which has freed up time for the vineyard team.”

USE CASE

Oenoview serving the segmentation of wines from the cooperative cellar La Vigneronne

The La Vigneronne cooperative cellar, based in Canet-d’Aude, used Oenoview® technology for the first time during the preparation of the 2017 harvest. Gérard Vidal, director of the cellar, testifies: “Three batches of vines have been established, with very distinct wine profile objectives, and therefore winemaking itineraries. This also made it possible to concretely justify the organization of contributions to our members, with the visual interface of Oenoview®, which shows them the imagery of their plots directly on their smartphone.”
