Agriculture : a new frontier for the European Space Policy

We had the pleasure to be invited by MEP Eric Andrieu at the European Parliament on March 6th 2018 for the conference « Agriculture : a new frontier for the European Space Policy ». We were part of the panelist and had the opportunity to bring forward our views, as an SME delivering EO-based services for agriculture, on the following topic:

« The Space strategy for Europe published on October 2016 has put forward ambitious proposals to connect the space sector to other EU public policies. Agriculture is recognized to be one of the sector for which the benefit of space services is the most promising. Data and services derived from space systems offer credible solutions to meet with future needs of farmers, as well as with opportunities and challenges the agricultural sector is facing due to the increased pressure on environment, the digitalization of economy, the deployment of connectivity in rural areas and the emergence of big data. Satellites images and geopositioning information enable the agricultural sector to evolve toward a more precise, sustainable and cost saving agriculture, while satellite communications play a key role in the digitalization of agriculture by offering connectivity in rural areas. »
